Pink LouLou Product Care & Cleaning Instructions

All Pink LouLou jewellery will last longer and continue to look ‘burning best’ if it is looked after well.  Please read the
below tips on how to best maintain your Pink LouLou treasure:
- Protect your jewellery from scratches, sharp blows, chemicals, extreme temperatures and sunlight
- Remove your jewels when doing household tasks such as gardening, cleaning and also remove when playing sport
- Apply make-up and hair spray before putting your jewellery on, as make-up and hair spray contain chemicals that  may damage jewellery
- Do not wear your jewellery while in a pool, the sea, hot tub or bathing. Salt water, chlorine in swimming pools, soap, perfumes, personal products, including toothpaste plus perspiration take their toll on jeweller
- Do not leave your jewellery on the bathroom or kitchen bench as the jewellery is at risk of sitting in water
- Do not store your jewels next to heating vents, window sills or in the car

Caring for Sterling Silver Pieces

Your Sterling Silver pieces should be cleaned with a special Sterling Silver cloth and if required a small amount of silver polish. Rinse the Sterling Sliver thoroughly in warm water and dry carefully.  This will remove any tarnish and dullness and keep your Sterling Silver jewellery looking like new. Never use tissues or paper towels for cleaning Sterling Silver as these products will scratch the jewellery.  After the silver jewellery is wiped clean and before storing, let the Sterling Silver piece lie flat and air dry completely, overnight if possible. Moisture speeds the tarnishing process so it's important to make sure your Sterling Silver jewellery is dry before putting it away.  Store the jewellery individually in a Pink LouLou felt jewellery pouch.

Caring for Gold Plated Pieces

22ct Gold Plated pieces are delicate jewellery items.  The best way to care & clean gold plated jewellery is to wipe lightly your gold plated piece with a damp cotton cloth to remove surface dirt or dust.  Next gently wash with a mixture of mild detergent such as soap or washing up liquid and a little water. Ensure your piece is rinsed and dried thoroughly. To restore shine, rub very gently with a Special gold polishing cloth.  Avoid using abrasive polishing cloths as they may remove too much of the gold surface. Before storing, let the gold plated jewellery lie flat and air dry completely, overnight if possible. Moisture speeds the tarnishing process so it's important to make sure your gold plated jewellery is dry before putting it away. It's especially important to protect your gold plated jewellery from getting scratched by storing each piece separately in a Pink LouLou felt jewellery pouch.

Caring for Gold Pieces

To clean gold jewellery use warm sudsy water containing a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid and rub gently with your fingers or a cotton swab. For a more abrasive cleaning (only if needed), brush lightly with a soft baby toothbrush but be gentle as you do not want to scratch the metal.  Do not use toothpaste or baking soda to clean gold jewellery as they are much too abrasive.  Rinse your gold jewellery thoroughly with warm water and dry with a cotton cloth. Avoid using paper products such as tissues because they contain particles of wood that can scratch the gold's surface.  Before storing, let the gold jewellery lie flat and air dry completely, overnight if possible. Moisture speeds the tarnishing process so it's important to make sure your gold jewellery is dry before putting it away. Once the jewellery is dry, if it looks dull, rub it gently with a jewellery polishing cloth. Use a clean cloth, or a clean section of a previously used cloth, so that the gold is not scratched. To avoid creating a pattern, rub with the polishing cloth in varying straight lines, not in a circular motion.  Store pieces individually in a Pink LouLou felt jewellery pouch.
